Why we love Dad
-
Every time I back out of a driveway I hear him: mirrors, then over your shoulder. He's been gone six years and he still keeps me safe.
More love for Dad
- He never said 'I love you.' He said 'text me when you land.' Same thing.
- My dad learned to braid hair from a YouTube video when Mom was in the hospital. Three girls showed up to school every morning looking perfect. We never told her.
- He worked two jobs for years and I never once heard him complain. I found out from Mom, decades later. That's the kind of man he was - the kind I'm still trying to be.
- Taught me to fish, to shave, to apologize like a man, and to never walk past someone who needs help. In that order.
